Long Weekend
We had another great long weekend - filled with lots of activities. It started on Friday night - Scott and the boys went out for Gary's stag, and Carole and I did our annual visit to the CNE. I made a few purchases including a new flat iron and ....the Tobi Steamer. I hate ironing and always wanted to buy the Tobi - and there it was at the CNE for a really great price!! Can't wait to try it out!
Early Saturday morning we drove up to Peterborough to play golf - I actually got to play with the boys - Bummer, Mark and Scott!!! They needed a fourth, so I got the call!! The course was in great shape except for some of the bad pin placements! A great golf day overall - super hot and sunny! I shot a 103. After golf, we headed over to Gary and Jen's Jack & Jill - an afternoon celebration. For dinner, a bunch of us headed to Cosmic Charlies for dinner - then we went back to James and Chris' to continue the partying.
On Sunday, we went to a memorial service for our friend's dad. He passed away earlier in the week - Jeff Nichols - owner of Nicolini's Restaurant in Peterborough. It was a nice service - with a lot of people in attendance - everyone knew him! Our friend Ang gave a beautiful and heartwarming tribute to her dad. Needless to say I did a lot of crying...and I think I heard some sniffling from Scott too. The reverend who performed the service made a very important point about "remembering" someone - he said that remembering is about connecting with others and encouraged everyone to continue connecting with each other. Something that I am going to try to make part of my life. After the memorial, Scott and I squeezed in a round of golf - another glorious day for golf!! We were joined by 2 other members - Steve and Don. I had a better round shooting a 97.
