Aunt Cheryl's 60th Birthday!!

Today is Aunt Cheryl's 60th Birthday. To celebrate we went to her golf course - Toronto Ladies in Thornhill to play her course and to have dinner. What a fantastic course - it's beautiful - a mature course with lots of trees - designed by Stanley Thompson - like our course. Here is their website http://www.ladiesgolfclub.com/ It used to be an exclusing womens club only - but has recently open their membership to men (restricted play time). It has a beautiful clubhouse - which was originally a farm house. After golf, we had some drinks and then moved to the dining room for dinner.
On the reno-front - the drywallers were in again today and have most of the walls up. The mudding and taping will start tomorrow.

Subfloor

It was a productive weekend. Tyrone - the floor guy was here all weekend levelling out our subfloor. What a production! He did a great job - but kind of a funny fellow - talked alot and liked to help himself to our beer. Regardless, the floor is level and now we have to decide on a hardwood and colour we like. The drywallers dropped off sheets of drywall today and will be back tomorrow to start their work.
We had our wall oven delivered on Saturday - our refridgerator was suppose to come as well - but I got a phone call from the warehouse saying that our fridge was missing and that they couldn't find it!! It's been stolen! Crazy! The good news is that they will be responsible for replacing it
Here's a picture of Scott - he decided to crawl under the deck to excavate and tidy it up.

Insulation and Flooring

It's been a busy few days. We have Scott Russell up here helping us out with a few things. Yesterday, the insulation guys came and sprayed the kitchen. It's air tight in there - nice and warm!!

Scottie and Richie went to work ripping up all the existing hardwood on the main floor. When I got home last night, they were on their hands and knees pulling out the old nails.

Today, the Electrian Inspector came and approved the work and the floor guy is coming this afternoon to install the subfloor. Scott Russell is doing some more framing for the bulkheads. The rest of the appliances are arriving tomorrow and the drywaller is suppose to come on Monday. Things are moving along. Our little Ginger is still in Peterborough hanging out with Mattie! We miss her dearly.

Windows

Well, the windows and new door are being installed right now and they look great! Earlier this morning we had a surprise visit by the appliance company - seems they were delivering out appliances - which are not suppose to come til next Saturday. Anyways, we ended up taking the dishwasher, range hood and cooktop and asked them to keep the rest til next Saturday because of a lack of space and not being ready for them yet. Then I went to Direct Buy and picked up our new sink and faucet!
Scott Russell was up again yesterday to do some work for us. Seems like the boys ran into some trouble when taking the rubbish to the dump. Somehow, my Scott got in a fight with a fishing lure and got the hook stuck in his thumb! So, we spent a few hours are East York General Emergency ward last night!!! After a painful tetanus shot and a couple more freezing needles, the fish hook was pulled out. All is good again this morning.

So, my nieces and I took Scott out for dinner last night to Asian Legend http://www.asianlegend.ca/ Anna's co-worker, George joined as - it was his birthday too, and so did Scott Russell. We ordered 9 dishes of really yummy food! Everything was excellent and a good time was had by all!

Toronto Film Fesival

Hollywood has come to Toronto for the film festival. Raymond has been busy photographing stars on the red carpet - you can see his photos here at www.raymondchow.ca - he even got a photograph of Brad Pitt!!!! Sharon and her friends ran into Jude Law and got a photo taken with him - although they are not convinced that it's him. They think it may be an imposter. What does everyone think?

Renovation Update

Well, not much to report on our kitchen reno. Had the termite people come in, they found termites, they retreated the house. Hopefully that took care of them! The plumber came in and moved the drain and pipes for the new sink. The window people are coming on Saturday to install the windows. Our cabinets and appliances have arrived and are sitting in a warehouse somewhere awaiting delivery. Things are moving along..slowly, but moving along.

Labour Day

Happy Labour Day. The last long weekend of the summer...that means that school starts up again - tomorrow for the kiddies and next Monday for UofT. Too bad the the weather sucked this weekend. Scott played in a golf tournament at Dalewood in Port Hope. Day 1 was good, Day 2, not so good.

Here is a picture of the boys at Dalewood - Derrick, Dan, Steve, Mark and Scott. It pretty much rained both days they had to play - not too much fun!

I dropped Scott off on Saturday morning and drove up to Peterborough to see Scott's parents and Ginger - she's been staying in Peterborough for the past two weeks because of our kitchen renovation.

She's been having a great time hanging out with Matty - here is a picture of the two of them napping... Ginger is still in Peterborough, at least until we get our kitchen in order.
Speaking of our kitchen... Scott Russell came up during the week and did some more work for us. He and Scott framed the windows and also did the framing for the ceiling. Hopefully this week we can get the window people in to measure and make the windows so we can get them installed asap. Today Scott and I worked on the basement - cleaning it up and setting it up with some of the old cabinets we saved. Here are a few pictures of the work that Scott and Scott did this past week. Richie & Liz also dropped by to check on the progress.
