Generals vs the Petes

Well, tonight I went to my first Oshawa Generals Game - they played the Peterborough Petes. Mark and Thomas have seasons tickets and they thought it would be fun if we all got tickets and went. So, we met them at the new GM arena at 4 p.m., had dinner at the restaurant there. We sat on a balcony in the arena and were able to watch some little kiddies play a game - they were funny, falling all over each other!

Scott sat with Thomas in their regular seats and Mark, Jennifer, Emily and I sat together just in the next section. I decided to cheer for Peterborough - even though they lost 4-0!!! We had a great time - really nice arena! Thanks to the Small Family for a lovely evening!

We are just doing some final packing right now - we leave tomorrow morning for Costa Rica! Really looking forward to some nice, sunny, hot weather!! Be back in one week!!

Clash on Planet Fooston

Last Saturday we attended out second Foosball tournament at Todd and Melu's (our neighbours). Well, Todd certainly outdid himself this time. Each of us transformed into a different superhero - using our photos, Todd photoshoped our images onto the pages of Superhero comic book covers. It was very cool - everyone was overwhelmed at how great the covers looked! We each had 6 different covers done up and the all looked fantastic. Unfortunately, Superman couldn't make it - off saving the world while the rest of us played!

In the end Daredevil and Green Lantern won the tournament, beating out Manhunter and the Hulk!! Another fun evening of foosball. Thanks Todd and Melu!

Baby it's cold outside!!

Well, winter is here - we have snow and icy cold weather. Along with the snow, comes the salt that is put on the sidewalk to melt the ice. Poor Ginger hates the salt - it gets stuck in her paws and she holds up her paw and starts yelping. So, we have booties for her!!! Unfortunately, she hates them and does not walk well in them. Here is a photo of her from this morning - she is wearing her Coach coat and her Muttluks booties. She walked most of the way up to Starbucks, but Scott said he had to carry her home!!! Poor Ginger.

Hidden Treasure!

This afternoon we found a hidden treasure in our backyard! A foraging squirrel tried to bury an ice cream cone in our lawn!! Unfortunately, the hole he dug was not quite deep enough!!

Although it's the beginning of January, it feels like spring - in fact new sprouts are starting to pop up from my garden!

Fun with the Kiddies

This week we had Thomas and Emily come up for a visit. Mom and Dad had to go back to work - so, since I was off til the 8th, I thought it would be fun to have them come up to the big city! Yesterday, we made the big trek downtown with our friend Scott Russell - aka DOG. So, we picked up a Family Pass and hopped onto the subway headed for the Spadina Station. The first stop was the Bank of China - where I had to send money back to China for my parents. The kids got a good laugh at the little Chinese boy humping the couch - not sure what he was doing - but it was amusing! Next stop, we had to purchase some kleenexes in a very urgent way! Both kiddies had really runny noses! Then we got onto a streetcar again, and went to the Mountain Equipment Co-op - just to look around at all the cool gear. Stopped for lunch in the food court underneath Metro Hall - the boys had Subway and the girls had McDonald's. Then we went back up to street level and walked by Roy Thompson Hall, and headed for the Opera House - to check it out. Did a quick stop at Nathan Phillips to see the skaters and then to the Eaton Centre.

We had lots of fun at the Apple Store - they have everything set up so customers can play with product. One cool thing they have is the Photo Booth application on their computers. We took lots of funny pictures and I emailed them to myself. Take a look! A final stop at Indigo to get the kiddies some new reading material - and then back on the subway to Pape Station. It was a very good day with lots of walking and good company and fun!

Happy New Years!!

Day 3 of the new year! I hope everyone had a nice new year's celebration. We were up at Drew's cottage with his family and Rich & Liz. Everyone kept busy with skating, hockey, a bit of fishing, and even some snowmobiling across the lake. DJ and Alex came up for a quick visit as well.

For New Year's eve, we had a big supper of steak and lobsters and had planned a big firework display (compliments of Kaboom Fireworks). However, due to the freezing rain, we were only able to fire off a few of the fireworks! We were totally bummed out!!! Nonetheless, a fantastic evening! Unfortunately, the freezing rain may have ruined our superb ice rink - hopefully not!
