Terry Visits

On Friday, Terry (Scott's twin) flew in from Victoria and drove up to the Patch for a visit. So we decided to head up to have dinner with him and Sandi & Barry. He's on his way to Kingston to coach a men's four to see if they can qualify for the world rowing championship - so he is there for a few days and then off to London for the time trial. I'm not sure if we will see him before he has to fly back. Here are a few photos from dinner.

On Saturday, Scott and I golfed with Richie and Liz at Kawartha. Of course, it started to rain, just as we were about to tee off! So, we waited for a little bit, the rain stopped, despite the dark looming clouds and thunder, and off we went. The gloomy weather held off until we got the the 9th hole, when the thunder came back and the lightning started!!! The air horns went off, which meant that everyone had to cease playing golf for fear of being struck by a bolt!!! So, we decided to head into the clubhouse for a snack and drinks and call it a day. Richie was able to get a full raincheck. So, after our foursome platter, nachos and some drinks. The sky cleared up a bit and Scott and I went out to finish the back nine. I was hitting some pretty long drives which I was happy with, BUT my chipping was not so good!

After golf, we went home for some dinner, hung out for a bit. We went out with Richie and Liz for some drinks downtown to a bar called Gertie's - me up with DJ, Drew and some other peterborough members. I was the DD - so I got all the free diet coke I could drink!
This morning, Scott and Drew decided to bass fishing on Deer Rock Lake so I had to drop him off to pick up his truck and boat. After that I went over to see the Leishman twins and got in some baby time! I signed up for feeding duties with Cameron! Boy they are getting big!
I went to Bowmanville for dinner with my parents - mmmm.... my mom even gave me leftovers to take home for Scott. Before that, I stopped off to see my old high school friend Darlene - we had a good talk about the past and about our current lives. I always have a great visit when I see her! After dinner I dropped by to see Thomas and Emily - today is Tommy's birthday - Happy Birthday! I also stopped to see Carole - she was cutting the lawn so I pulled out a few weeds for her! Since my nieces Karen and Sharon were home visiting their parents, I gave them a ride back to Toronto.

BHS Class of 1987

I am in the planning stages our our 20 year high school reunion!! Next year will be 20 years since we've been at BHS! We are going to get together at the end of July 2007 to celebrate. Now the fun part begins....finding everyone. I've sent out emails and have received some back. However, there are still lots of people that I have lost touch with since our last reunion in 1997. I'm hoping I will be able to locate some of them with some intricate searching and phone calling!!! My mind was so engrossed with thoughts about the reunion last night that I couldn't go to sleep - I think I finally fell asleep around 2 a.m.

Family BBQ

Well, yesterday we had the whole family here for a big barbeque - my family (except my dad and brother Peter) and Scott's parents (Sandi & Barry). Even Amy and her boyfriend Kevin made it out (Amy is usually absent from family functions because of her work schedule). It was great to see everyone together! There was lots of yummy food and good conversation. Everyone raved about Sandi's oriental chicken coleslaw and wanted her recipe! A good time was had by all - Ginger especially - she got a lot of treats!

Busy, busy...

Well, it's Saturday night, one more day until the weekend is over and it's back to work for another 5 days! Yesterday, we met Fawad - our kitchen designer at Direct Buy, where we ordered and paid for our kitchen cabinets!!! Ouch! They should be ready and shipped to Toronto in about 4-6 weeks. That means we have to get our butts moving of demolishing the existing kitchen and getting it ready for the new cabinets!! I'm really nervous about this whole ordeal - I mean I'm excited to get a new kitchen - but there is SO much that needs to get done!! Scott is definitely looking forward to this!!

Today, we played golf with Bummer and Jacky at KG&CC. We had a lovely time - the weather was not too sunny and not too hot - perfect for golf! Unfortunately, since I didn't want to take a cart, I had to hobble around on my bum foot - which kind of slowed me down! Shot another crappy game (102) - did I mention my handicap went up 2 to a 26!! I'm just a beater.

Before heading back to the big city, we stopped in to see Mike. We had to rearrange where we had Scott's boat parked. I've included a few pictures of Liam (Mike's son) practicing his ninja routine and a photo of Scott with Ginger.

After leaving Peterborough, we stopped in to see my parents. Peter had just got back from a fishing tournament at Rice Lake - where he and his fishing partner won $1000 for catching the second biggest fish that day! I also noticed that Peter's fishing sunglasses tan is starting to even out a bit - a few weeks ago when I saw him, he totally looked like a racoon!! Our final destination before going home - was a quick stop at the Jarvis Street Loblaws (which is open to 10 p.m.) to buy a bunch of groceries - tomorrow, we're hosting my whole family and Scott's parents for a bbq. Should be fun...

Poor foot....

Well, I went to Dr. Sweet today - my podiatrist. He confirmed that I must have overstretched something in my arch - I can't remember the technical term. So, he taped my heel up to help support my foot and I hobbled on my way. Not before placing an order for a pair of sandal orthothics - which will cost me $600!!!! Not to mention the poor choices to choose from!! I ended up choosing a birkenstock looking casual pair - called Mikaela http://www.naot.com/cgi-bin/show_product.pl?yaleet_number=68900&cat=WMN. I should have them in about 4 weeks - yipeee.

Another b-day cake!

Above are a few photos from today. Today I also received the best birthday present from Terry - the Complete Series DVD collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 7 seasons!! I can't wait to watch it - all 143 episodes on 39 disks!! It's very exciting!

Back to work!!

Well, my two weeks holidays are over - I'm back at work!!! Ugh.... However, it is good to see everyone in the office again! But, it is summer, so things are somewhat slow at UofT. I am starting to gear up to work on the second half of the summer course evaluations!! yee-ha!

I just called to make an appointment with the podiatrist - for those who don't know - I did something to my foot which causes me to limp around. It's gotten a bit better, but I still grimace and limp.

So, as I was sitting here at work - my co-workers surprised me with a belated birthday cake!! And my friends from the OFR came over to celebrate. Mmmm...chocolate cake and ice cream! Thanks Gadhi and Terry!

Belated Birthday Cake!

Last night my nieces (Karen, Sharon, Anna, & Nancy) and nephews (Raymond & Craig) came over to do a belated birthday celebration. Richie also came over for some cake. It was lots of fun - I even got presents! My cake was very good - my favourite ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins - pralines & cream. Afterwards, Richie, Scott, Anna and I went out for dinner at the Ouzeri for some tasty greek food. The rest of the kiddies parted way on the Danforth.

Thomas & Emily Visit

On Sunday, we stopped in Bowmanville for dinner with my parents. Then we went to Mark & Jenn's house for a visit. We decided to kidnap the kiddies for a visit to TO. So, after packing up a couple of bags we packed the kids into the car and off we went, back to TO.

Monday was a crappy day of heavy rain all day - so we decided to go up to the Vaughan Mills mall and do some shopping. So, we did the full tour of the mall - making a few purchases along the way. Picked up some groceries on the way home to make some tacos for dinner!!!

Took the kids for dim sum at the Pacific Mall. I think they got a kick out of trying to eat with chopsticks (which they never did figure out) and trying some different food. At one point Thomas' chopstick went into the hot chili sauce - unfortunately I wasn't fast enough in my warning and he licked it off! Boy, did his face go red in a hurray!!

Jane & Carole

I spent part of last week with Carole in Bowmanville - we always get together to celebrate out birthdays together! (July 7th and July 12th). We did some shopping and went to the Enchanted Hands spa in Bowmanville. I wasn't very happy with my experience at the spa (I never am) - but nevertheless, I still had a good time with Carole. Scott picked me up on Friday and we went up to Peterborough to play golf with his mom and Mike O'Connor - a practice round for me before the women's club championship (sat & sun). After golf we went out for dinner (with Mike and Helen) for my birthday - to my favourite restaurant in Peterborough - Cosmic Charlies---mmmm...... Of course I had my favourite dish - Butter Chicken! Everything was fantastic. I was not happy with my golf scores for the championship - I'm pretty sure I came in last place!!! Oh well. I'm just a weekend beater afterall!

Canada Day long weekend

Happy belated Canada Day!!!! Hope everyone celebrated!!

As any other weekend, we were up in Peterborough for the long weekend! Went up later on Friday night to avoid the traffic - which worked out well. Carole also came up to hang out for the weekend.

Scott played in the Club Championship on Saturday (day 1 of two for the qualifier). I played golf with Sandi (Scott's mom) and her friend Marilyn Nichols. Carole was the designated driver of the golf cart and official score keeper - as we were playing some kind of skins game (or something like that). It was a real scorcher on Saturday - and the course was slow....because we had to follow the men in the championship!!! Regardless, we all had a good time - I felt I played well, despite only shooting 100 - which is my best score this year so far! Here are a few photos from the course:

Unfortunately, Scott didn't make the cut for the final rounds of the Club Championship (scheduled for next weekend - maybe he'll caddy for me!). The drive home on Monday was brutal - we drove into some really heavy rain on top of the Moraine on the 115. Luckily we didn't have to drive in it all the way home to TO.

Here's one final picture of Ginger from the weekend - she's sitting in Sandi's laundry basket! She was sick on the weekend - throwing up, not eating, and runny poops - but she is feeling much better today!
