Back from Costa Rica - return to the cold!
Ah, back in freezing TO! Hard to believe that we were just in sunny, very hot Costa Rica - where the temperature was 30+ everyday!!! Oh, how I wish we were were still there!! Well, we had a fantastic time in Costa Rica - relaxing, meeting new friends and enjoying eveyone's company, partying and of course celebrating the marriage of Dave and Tiffany! There were about 60 of us there at the Fiesta Premier Resort for the nuptials. Half were friends of the Wood's Family - the rest friends and family of the bride and groom. Everyone ate lots and drank lots - making the most of the all inclusive deal! With the all you can drink deal - everyone took a turn wearing the yellow jersey!!! The resort was very nice - everyone stayed in these little bungalows which were spread out. The resort staff were very nice and friendly! We saw lots of wildlife: fish while snorkeling, geckos, iguanas, birds, monkeys, racoons, other racoon like creatures with long tails and snouts, LARGE black spiders in our bedroom everynight, and even a HUGE tarantula on the outside of our bathroom window!
There was lots to do at the resort - swimming, snorkeling, drinking, eating, day tours, fishing tours, spa treatments. We did a bit of everything! The boys went out fishing and caught a few Dolphin Fish (Dorado or Mahi-mahi) - the chef allowed them to cook it up in her kitchen and we had it for lunch - very tasty, others sampled it as sashimi!! I went on a souvenir shopping trip into Liberia (the closest city) one afternoon. We also went into the little town - Coco Beach one night for the stag/stagette - and partied with the locals. We took advantage of the spa facilities - I had a pedicure one day and Scott and I enjoyed a couples massage at a hut overlookng the ocean. We also took a day tour with a few people to the Arenal Volcano - about 3 1/2 hours away. We stopped and did a Canopy Tour (zip lining) along the way in the rainforest. The top of the volcano was hidden by clouds most of the day - but still an impressive site. We spent the last part of the tour at the Tabacon Spa - a hot spring. There we enjoyed the 41.3 degrees hot springs and had dinner. We even witnessed some volcano action - rumbling and lava flowing!
