Cottage weekend

This past weekend, Scott and I went to our friend's cottage (Rich & Janeva) on Upper Stoney. We left Ginger behind in Peterborough with Scott's parents - there are too many stairs for her to climb to get to the dock area. Joining us were our friends Richie and Liz and Gordie (Richie's field spaniel). It was a beautiful weekend - glorious weather - sunny and warm, good friends, drinks and lots to eat. We spent most of the time down on the dock, basking in the sun, swimming in the lake (I didn't go in - I'm not a fan of murky, weedy, lakes where I can't see the bottom), reading magazines and books. The boys went out a few times to try their luck at catching some fish. Gordie learned how to jump and swim in the lake - and I think he really liked it! Now Richie will have to keep him from jumping into his pool at home! Above are a few pictures from the weekend. The first one is Richie and Scott doing backflips off the dock. The second one is Gordie trying to grab the rock bass that Richie caught.

Just before dinner on Saturday, Buzzy (that's what we call Rich) brought out his homemade potato gun!! I've never heard of or seen one of these - apparently you can get the plans to make on off of the internet. As it's name implies, it's a gun that shoots potatos! Basically, you plug a potato into the top of the tube, spray some Lysol (Buzzy claims this works the best, and smells nice too), plunge the potato down the tube as far as it will go with a broom handle, then you push the BBQ ignitor switch - and whammo the potato is launched into the air. It was the funniest thing to watch this potato fly through the air and into the lake. We were launching them from the cottage porch and flying them through the air about 200+ yards!! You can check it out on this website I found on the internet: http://platinumchromatography.com/potato.htm
On Sunday, Scott and I headed back to Peterborough to play golf with his mom at Kawartha G & CC. I still haven't broken 100 yet this year - shot a 101. I'm suppose to play in the club championships in two weekends - not sure if I should embarass myself or not! Regardless, we had a good time. We ended up staying overnight in Peterborough on Sunday as we were both too tired to drive back to TO. So we drove back on Monday morning...I ended up calling in to work and taking the day off to do laundry and work around the house.
